First Laser Corneal Transplant Performed in NEPA
A corneal transplant, also known as a corneal graft, is a procedure that involves removal of the central portion of a diseased cornea, replacing it with a matched donor cornea. The procedure is performed to correct the absence of acceptable vision due to scarring, tissue damage, disease or trauma to the cornea. Traditionally performed using metal blades, the new, advanced procedure performed by Dr. Jordan is called Intralase Enhanced Keratoplasty (IEK) which applies laser technology developed for LASIK surgery for corneal transplantation.
